Meet Dr. Nelson

Dr. Nelson is a second-generation dentist born and raised running around his dad’s dental practice in Cle Elum. He completed his undergraduate degree at Walla Walla University before attending dental school at Loma Linda University in California. After graduation he served in the U.S. Navy as a dental officer, completing an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency. His next tour was spent in Yokosuka, Japan where he earned a Navy and Marine Corps Commendation for leadership.

Dr. Nelson returned to the PNW and opened Nelson Family Dentistry in 2007. Together with his staff, he has built a practice that focuses on comprehensive oral health with a high standard of care.

Dr. Nelson became one of the first dentists in the state of Washington to adopt the X-Guide 3D guided surgery system. Since adopting this technology, Dr. Nelson has successfully completed hundreds of implant placements using the X-Guide system. He has presented at continuing education courses for dental professionals that focus on the future of dentistry and digitally guided surgery.

In 2022, by completing over 500+ hours of continuing education & passing a rigorous exam, Dr. Nelson became a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD). The AGD’s mission is to advance general dentistry and oral health through quality continuing education and advocacy.

Dr. Nelson is a member of the ADA, WSDA, and International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He has served on the Delta Dental of Washington Member Advisory Panel and is a current board member for Everyone For Veterans, a non-profit dedicated to providing free comprehensive dental care to eligible veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces and their spouses. He and his wife Amber have two children, Todd and Wylie. His chocolate lab, Magnus, often accompanies Dr. Nelson into the office to provide comfort to patients
